What is TENS?
TENS is short for Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation. The TENS generates electrical impulses that are sent through electrodes placed over nerve centers. The various pulses can block pain signals usually sent to the brain through nerve fibers, and so interrupting the brain's awareness of pain.
How does TENS work?
Electrodes are placed on or near the area of pain. Soothing pulses are sent via the electrodes through the skin and along the nerve fibres. Your brain is more likely to feel the electrical signals than the pain. In this way, the pulses (controlled by the user at all times) suppress pain signals to the brain.
Will TENS work for me?
TENS is a highly effective treatment for pain. It is used worldwide and recommended by sports coaches, pain clinics, doctors and other medical practitioners. A TENS unit will ease pain, and can lead to a decrese in pain medication.
Will the treatment hurt?
No, the sensation felt should be very pleasant and soothing, it can be a feeling of 'pins and needles' and you control the strength of the pulses.
Is a TENS unit easy to use?
Yes, extremely easy to use. Step by step instructions are provided with every machine.
